Office of Geriatrics Mission

To improve the health and quality of life of older persons through the education of students and practitioners in northeastern Ohio, the advancement of knowledge through research and the provision of community service.

The office is one of seven offices of geriatric medicine established in 1978 by a legislative act the Ohio General Assembly (Ohio Revised Code Section 3333.111). The offices have been working collaboratively for three decades in this statewide network through the Consortium of Ohio Geriatric Academic Programs (COGAP).

Coordination and implementation of clinical programs are achieved under the direction of the Geriatric Medicine Regional Coordinating Committee composed of key leaders in geriatric medicine throughout the consortium.
